Ruby is a type of corundum. It is the only color corundum that is not called sapphire. It is, however, the same base stone but with different colors.

Ruby is called the “Stone of Nobility.” It is a symbol of royalty. Ancient peoples used Ruby in decision making by casting lots. They also put them in crowns and other royal regalia.
